Start With the Upper Cabinets
To begin installing top cabinets, rest the uppers on a ledger board—it’ll ensure a nice, straight alignment and eliminate the frustration of holding the cabinets in place while screwing them to the wall.
Once your top cabinets are installed, move on to the bottom kitchen cabinets.
Do you put flooring under kitchen cabinets?
If you are installing a hardwood floating floor (or any floating floor such as cork or laminate), you should install the floor AFTER the kitchen cabinets are installed. So, floors that are nailed (or glued) should be installed BEFORE the cabinets and floors that are floated should be done AFTER the cabinets.
How do you connect cabinets?
Drill a 1/8″ pilot hole in the face frame above or below each door hinge location. Attach the second cabinet to the first cabinet using a #8 x 2½” screw and countersink for best appearance. Always attach cabinets together at the face frame as shown. Do not attach through the cabinet side panel.
