Sink gurgling might happen because food debris from the disposal has gotten down into the piping and created a partial clog, trapping air.

When water washes into the sink, air gets released and bubbles up through the water, producing the gurgling noise.

Why does my sink drain make a gurgling sound?

The other most common problem that gurgling sinks have is a blocked vent pipe. There is a vent pipe attached to the drainpipe under your sink that allows sewer gas to escape. This can cause sewer gas to then push backwards into the drain pipe, which causes that gurgling noise you are hearing.

Why does my kitchen sink gurgle when the washing machine drains?

When your washing machine drains or empties the water, it pushes the water out at high volume using its drain pump. When gurgling at sinks or toilets occur, this usually means the shared waste pipe is partially blocked. The blocked waste pipe does not allow the water from the washer to pump out fast enough.

How do I know if my plumbing vent is clogged?

The top three signs your plumbing vent is clogged include:

  • Sputtering, gurgling toilets. When airflow is inadequate in a vent because of size or blockage, the plumbing pressure will be greater than the air in the bathroom.
  • Slow drain.
  • Strong sewer gas odor.
